Design Manager

We are looking for a passionate and talented Design Manager to join the Bolster family.

Role Description

As Design Manager, you'll help manage Bolster's architects and project teams deliver a consistently excellent design and build experience.

The ideal candidate will be a licensed architect with a thorough knowledge of architectural practice in New York, specifically Brooklyn and Manhattan. We expect you to be a reliable professional able to achieve balance between customer orientation and a results-driven approach.

Responsibilities

Based in New York City, you will work closely with, and receive support from, Bolster’s operations team to fulfill the following responsibilities for a growing volume of inquiries and simultaneous projects:

  • Develop and continuously improve Bolster’s design and pre-construction processes, instruments of design and contractual framework and relationships with Bolster's design professionals to ensure Bolster’s design contracts are delivered on time and cost efficiently

  • Backstop projects as needed during DD and CA stages

  • Participate in site visits and homeowner presentations

  • Monitor and oversee the creation of pricing produced in accordance to plans

  • Quality Assure plans produced by Bolster Architects

  • Perform the role of Lead Architect on projects as required

  • Lead on the creation of a library of products and material and supplier solutions

  • Advise on compliance and code as required

Education & Experience

  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of architecture practice with emphasis, building materials, construction methods, integration of engineering disciplines, and building costs code and compliance management.

  • Strong ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships

  • Well-developed communications, writing, decision making, analysis, interpersonal, organizational and team work skills are required

  • 10+ years proven past experience as an Licensed Architect

  • Excellent communication/presentation skills and ability to build relationships

  • Organizational and time-management skills

  • Knowledge of NYC real estate or property market is a plus

  • Master’s Degree is a plus

  • Outstanding knowledge of Google suite; CRM software (eg. Base CRM) is a plus

  • Love of home renovation, architecture and design is a huge plus!
